8) minimalist reduction

so, i’m selling off a load of gear to make way for a more streamlined setup. ideally, it’ll be one arduinome, arduinoboy, korg ms-20 (controlled by kenton pro solo mkii), macbook pro, mpc1000 and microkontrol. check out my ebay for some ch eap gears.

the plan is to use the korg ms-20 life for guitar processing. it’ll be really interesting to interface with the ms-20 using the mpc1000 or monome. in the studio, it’ll be really nice to use the ms-20 as a bass synth.

i know that these musings are dull but i need to organize my head. i need to start making music again. i’m quite literally losing my mind as result. roll on august 29th.

things have been really slow and stressful. i’m procrastinating and dwelling on the fact that i need a new computer. loraine’s windows laptop is driving me fucking mental. fake trojans, real trojans, freezing during flash playback — its a fucking shitemare.

i’m halfway towards purchasing a new mac and selling equipment to fund it has been the most stressful ever. my ideal setup would include a mac book pro, mpc 1000, arduinome and ms-20. anyone out there want to make an anonymous donation? downloaded my tracks and felt like you wanted to contribute? now’s the time, the time is now. seriously, i’m drained.

6) dead ibook

my ibook is on its last legs and i’m currently updating from my girlfriend’s laptop. what would make life easier? a new mac. i have my eye on a new mac book pro but it means selling off a lot of gear. gutted.

5) fixed korg ms-20

after an incredibly long-drawn-out process the korg ms-20 is home. jim at singingcatservices did a fantastic job of restoring the synth to its former glory. word of warning, avoid the “hammond hire company”. enough said. well, maybe there’ll be a future diatribe. watch this space.

sorry for the “playing”. i was just messing around with sounds. check from 9:36 onwards. sounds really nice to my ears.

3) midiNES and renoise (triangle kick)

the new beta version of renoise now allows midi pitch bends to be modulated by the LFO meta device. ideal for making pulse and triangle kick sounds.

2) midiNES and renoise (glitch dmc)

i really love the DMC channel on the NES. i found modulating various parameters with LFOs can provide interesting results here too. this is not something that i’ve heard in .nsf tunes. so maybe this is one of the few instances where you have more control of the 2a03 than you would by using a purpose-built tracker.
